Who I Am
I have been practicing yoga at WholeHeart since 1997. and I resonate deeply with Kripalu Yoga’s focus on a heart-centered practice. I was a long-time student of Julie Gray’s (a long-time WholeHeart teacher), and have learned so much many teachers at WholeHeart. My yoga & meditation practice has been a grounding force in navigating the joys & challenges of parenting & being human.
What & Why I Teach
I teach mindful flow classes, where you’ll be invited to move organically and through postures with strength, curiosity, and breath. Yoga provides me with the time and space to slow down and carve out time for myself; to listen closely to what my body is calling for; to nurture my spirit; to reconnect with my inner wisdom, and to emerge with a more peaceful heart to bring into the world. I am drawn to teach because I want more people to experience the benefits of yoga beyond the physical practice!
My Current Classes & Workshops Include
Gentle and Moderate classes for all levels of experience. My classes provide space for mindful movement, deep listening & lighthearted exploration. While teaching on Zoom, I make a point to check in with students before and after class, ensuring everyone feels welcomed and acknowledged. I have developed a comfort level with teaching online that allows for humor, lightheartedness, and connection during yoga class in the comfort of our own homes!
What Brought me to Yoga
As an athlete & avid adventurer, I was initially drawn to yoga as a way to stay physically fit without injuring myself. Since then, yoga has become such an important part of my life because it provides lasting self-care– emotional stability, peace of mind, healthy body, & arthritis support — and helps me be a more centered parent of two teenagers!
Favorite Pose & Why
Reclined Twist- I love feeling the support of the floor while exploring twists. With eyes closed, it’s easier to listen for what would feel just right in this moment, without feeling rushed. Twists are also a great way to relieve tension and anxiety.
Off the Mat
Off the mat, you can find me exploring the woods and waters of Maine with my husband & teenagers, laughing & knitting with friends, taking long walks with our sweet dog, Luna, gardening, and finding solitude with a good book. I have a long and varied career in the non-profit world.
